I am a wood artist and craftsman. I specialize in framed scrollsaw work in exotic woods. I have been scroll sawing for 3 years now and my work has continuously evolved. I make all the frames for my work myself. Some of the pictures here are of commercially available patterns, some are adapted from copyright free images and some are completely my own. I am working on creating my own patterns and making signed and numbered limited edition series.
I do not use any paint, stain or dye. Everything you see is the wood's natural colors and grains. I do not use veneer, and the only plywood I use is for backgrounds. All the wood that I scroll is 1/8" thick. The frames are all aromatic cedar except for a few purpleheart. I run through the list when ordering wood. A few woods I have used are:
- maple - walnut
- red oak - white oak
- purpleheart - yellowheart
- canarywood (I love this stuff!)
- cocobolo - mahogany
- bocote - bubinga
- zebrawood - paudakh
- lacewood
